Prior Walter (Justin Kirk) is dying of AIDS when he is visited by an angel (Emma Thompson) to become the prophet of a new millenium. Power-broker lawyer Roy Cohn (Al Pacino) and his mormon protege Joe Pitt (Patrick Wilson) are forced to deal with the political, social, and physical realities of homosexuality and AIDS. Based on Tony Kushner's plays, the action centers on a handful of talented actors playing a double handful of complex characters.
